Five hours to the Selangor coast
Kuala Selangor sits at the mouth of the Selangor river north-west of Kuala Lumpur, around 400 kilometres from Singapore and five to five and a half hours away. It is best known for two things: the fireflies that gather along the mangroves after dark, and the seafood along the coast. Bukit Malawati above the town adds a historical layer. Sekinchan, with its paddy fields, is close by and sits on the same rate line, which is why a good number of our bookings cover both rather than treating them as separate trips.
Timing an evening arrival
The fireflies are the reason most first-time visitors come, and they are an after-dark attraction — which makes arrival time a real planning question rather than an afterthought. If that is your plan, say so when you enquire and we will set the departure so you arrive with time to eat first rather than rushing straight from a five-hour drive to a boat. If you want to take in Sekinchan and the coast as well, a day charter keeps the van and driver with you and lets you move between them without arranging anything locally, which for an area this spread out matters more than it might sound.
