The east coast, three hours out
Endau sits on the Johor–Pahang border where the river meets the South China Sea, roughly 230 kilometres from Singapore and three to three and a half hours away. Most people heading there are going for one of two reasons: the national park inland, which is one of the oldest stretches of rainforest in the region, or the jetty, which along with nearby Tanjung Gemok serves the east-coast islands. Neither is well served by anything other than road transport from Singapore, which is why a private van tends to be the practical answer rather than merely the comfortable one.
Timing, gear and the return leg
If your trip continues by boat, the sailing time is the only time that matters and we plan the pickup backwards from it, allowing for the checkpoint and the drive. We would far rather have you at the jetty early than watching a boat leave. The other planning point is what you are carrying: park trips and island trips both generate awkward luggage — dive gear, coolers, packs for several days — and all of it comes off the van at the checkpoint with you before going back in. Tell us the group size and the gear together and we will send a van with genuine space rather than one that just about seats everyone.
