Two and a half hours to the fabric town
Tangkak sits in north-west Johor near the Melaka border, roughly 200 kilometres from Singapore. It has a long-established reputation as a textile town, and a good share of the groups we take there are going specifically to buy — families kitting out for a wedding, businesses sourcing, or simply people who have worked out that the prices justify the drive. Gunung Ledang, the mountain that dominates the area, brings a different set of visitors again. Either way it is a straightforward run up the expressway with no complications beyond the checkpoint at the start.
Plan the boot space for the way home
This is the one route where we routinely tell people to book a bigger van than their headcount suggests. Groups going to Tangkak for fabric leave Singapore with hand luggage and come back with rolls, bags and boxes, and boot space that was ample on the outbound leg is frequently not on the return. Tell us what you expect to bring back when you book and we will size the van for the journey home rather than the journey out. Tangkak also shares a rate line with Muar, which is close by, so combining the two in a day charter is straightforward if you want to.
